Anna was born and brought up in Sweden but she has been living in Uganda for about 11 years. Dancing has always been one of her favorite hobbies since she was 5 years old and she has studied various styles of dancing throughout the years such as ballet, jazz dance, contemporary and Swedish Folklore. During her dance education she discovered Salsa and Latin dances and decided to focus mainly on teaching and performing within those dances. She has traveled around in Cuba to explore more of the Cuban Salsa and take private lessons with various dance teachers in Cuba for a period of 4 months.
Anna has been teaching and performing in Sweden with various group constellations over the years before moving to Uganda.
In 2010 Anna founded a dance company called Latin Vibes with her dance partner and in which they hosted Latin Social dance nights as well as performed in various venues and functions.
One of Anna’s passions is Rueda de Casino and she introduced it in Uganda in 2011. During these classes she met Kiiza Johnson, a passionate Latin Dancer, who picked a big interest in dancing and teaching Rueda de Casino. In 2015 Anna and Johnson started a partnership and joined their two dance groups Latin Vibes and Beyond Basics into Beyond Latin Vibes.
Anna is today one of the directors of Beyond Latin Vibes and shes teaching Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Merengue, Rueda de Casino, Brazilian Zouk and Ladies Styling weekly at Cayenne Lounge and other locations in Kampala. While she is focused on delivering all the detailed techniques and challenging her students, especially to beginners, she never forgets to make sure that you are having a great time in her class.
More than anything she loves teaching, helping people express their feelings through dance and sharing her love and passion with her students. She believes that no matter where we get and how successful we are we should never stop learning and never forget where we have started in the first place!
